Uneven Floor Concerns in Bucks County FAQs.
How to fix uneven floors?
Uneven floors are fixed by first identifying why the floor slopes, sags, dips, or moves. The cause may be in the subfloor, but it can also come from weakened joists, damaged beams, failing posts, moisture damage, settlement, or earlier alterations. NK Construction & Design evaluates the floor system and the structure below it before determining whether the repair should involve joist reinforcement or sistering, beam or post work, damaged-wood replacement, structural correction, subfloor leveling, or a combination of repairs. Leveling only the visible surface can leave an underlying structural problem unresolved.
Does an uneven floor always mean there is a foundation problem?
No. Foundation movement is one possible cause, but uneven floors can also result from weakened joists, failing beams or posts, damaged wood, moisture, crawl-space conditions, subfloor issues, or earlier remodeling. NK evaluates both the floor framing and the supports below it so the repair is directed at the actual source of the movement.
What are signs that floors are uneven?
Slope, high spots, squeaking, bounce or movement, and cracking tile or grout.
